Wayne L. Collins, age 65, of Mount Laurel NJ, passed away on January 3, 2019 with his devoted partner, Carol Hunter by his side. Born on May 5, 1953 to the late Barbara and Ralph Collins of Moorestown NJ he was raised and spent most of his life in the Moorestown NJ area. He is a 1971 graduate of Moorestown High School. He left South Jersey briefly in 1971 to attend Syracuse University in NY where he earned a B.S. in Finance in 1975. He also graduated, with honors, from the PA Commercial Lending School and the PA School of Banking.
Wayne spent his entire working career in the banking industry. Upon returning from college in 1975, he accepted a position in the training program at Girard Bank (now Mellon Bank) in Philadelphia PA where he worked for 12 years. He advanced from trainee to Branch Manager, Group Manager and finally Commercial Lender. He left Mellon Bank in 1987 to join Provident National Bank (now PNC Bank) where he worked for 30 years until his retirement in November 2017.
His career at PNC Bank included a long and varied list of responsibilities and titles. He started as an AVP Commercial Loan Officer, was promoted to V.P. Regional Loan Manager. He moved from the lending side of the banking business to pure credit in 1996 and became a Credit Team Leader and ultimately Market Credit Officer. In 2000, he assumed the position of Credit Manager in PNC's centralized center in Eastwick PA. In 2007, he was promoted to SVP and Senior Credit Manager at that facility. Wayne was an accomplished commercial lender; a seasoned senior credit officer and manager; and a valued member of their senior management team.
Wayne is survived by his devoted partner of 28 years Carol Hunter; his 2 loving daughters, Sarah Collins of Austin TX and Jenn Hunt and her husband, Randy Hunt of Round Rock TX and 3 adorable grandsons, Sam, Charlie and Ben Hunt. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Collins of Marlton NJ, brother Dale Collins and his wife, Joy of Moorestown NJ as well as an Aunt Joy and countless cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be forever missed by everyone who knew him.
Relatives, friends and coworkers are invited to his viewing Tuesday January 8 from 6:30-8:30pm at the Bradley Funeral Home 601 Rt. 73 South at Evesham Rd. Marlton NJ 856-983-1005.
