We are so sorry to hear of George's death. We feel like we have known him our entire life as dad spoke of him often. Our father, Hugh Dudley, George and their friend Fenmore met and spent their entire time in the Seabees together during WWII. They trained at Camp Perry, Virginia and served on Oahu, Tinian and Okinawa. They returned home Christmas, 1945.
We have heard great tales of their war experiences as well as George's success in the jewelry retail business. George (and Fen) visited dad twice in the last 20 years. We will always have fond memories of George sitting at our dining room table, reminiscing about his time with dad in the Pacific as well as their visits to see each other after the end of the war.
George was kind, funny and gracious. George and dad talked on the phone frequently, most recently just a few days before his death. Dad is heartbroken over his good friend's death. We will all forever remember George as a great man who served our country and as one of dad's favorite friends.
