Obituary

Joseph A. DeMarco, age 88, passed away on November 30th, 2019. He was a loving and generous husband of 62 years to Mary (nee Barbera). Joe was a native of South Philadelphia but moved to the Lake Villa section of Voorhees N.J. in 1957. He served his country from 1952-1954 and was stationed in Berlin, Germany. He had a lifetime career as a printer in Philadelphia and South Jersey. He started bowling as a student at Bartlett Junior High and continued to play well into his 80's. He proudly achieved a score of 298 in the Playdrome Senior League. Joe spent years on the shore of Margate and passed on his love of the beach to all of his children. No beach day would be complete without the kids diving off of Joe’s shoulders into the waves followed by Joe buying everyone treats from the ice cream man. While not attending college himself, Joe ensured that all of his children experienced college life.

Joe was the adored son of the late Helen and Tony DeMarco. Joe was a devoted father to Joseph Jr. (Marianne), Mary Ellen DeMarco-Ruby (Mike), Mary Joan Atkinson (the late Bob), Barbara Rote (Scott), Tammy (John La Paglia) and Anthony (Jacqueline). He was a loving brother of Marie Camoratto (Joe) and Helen Adams (Bob) and Beloved brother-in-law of Rosalie (the late Tom) Albergo. He was an adoring grandfather of Joanna, Joseph III, Nicole, James, Michael, Dan, Christina, Maggie, Gina, Laura, Theresa, Mary Rose, Julianna, Gabrielle, Anthony and Giovanni and a caring great grandfather of Kevin, Rosalie, Jackson, Gianna, Robert, Jacob, Owen, Leah and Lucas. Joe also had a tremendous influence on his nieces and nephews and will be missed by all. He was a great family and left a legacy of love.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday December 5th from 9-10:45 AM at the St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 27 Kresson Gibbsboro Rd, Gibbsboro, NJ 08026. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM at the church. Interment will be private. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial donation may be made to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia at www.chop.edu

I have know this true patriarch, Mr. Demarco, since the 1980's and I am blessed to have know him and have been able to spend some time with him. He left behind an INCREDIBLE Legacy and will surely be missed by many, but WOW.... what a great life he has lived.
