When I heard "Spirit in the Sky" played at Nancy's funeral it brought back an instant memory of her playing this song at a piano recital (we were probably between the ages of 10-12 at the time). I wanted to get up to speak about this memory of her like others did, but I could not stop crying long enough to do it. How Nancy ever got Mrs. McGaw, who was strictly a classical music piano teacher, to approve this song for a piano recital, I'll never know, but she did. I will always associate this song with her.
When I die and they lay me to rest.
Gonna go to the place that's the best.
When I lay me down to die.
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky.🎼🎹💗
